New PET scan could spot hidden brain tumors and avoid unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT06055790

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests a special PET/CT scan (18F-Fluciclovine) to see if it can better detect brain metastases and tell the difference between active cancer and scar tissue from treatment. About 20 adults with known or suspected brain metastases will get the scan before and after their standard treatment. The goal is to improve diagnosis and reduce uncertainty from standard MRI scans.
