Brain scans reveal how collective memory rewires individual recall
NCT ID NCT02172677
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study used brain scans (fMRI) to understand how shared cultural memories—like those from a visit to a World War II memorial—affect the way individuals remember personal experiences. Twenty-seven healthy adults participated. The goal was to see which brain areas handle collective knowledge and how they influence memory retrieval. No treatment or intervention was tested.
