Spinal fluid test could warn of brain damage after bleeds
NCT ID NCT04998370
Summary
This study aimed to find out if measuring the amount of blood in the fluid around the brain and spine (cerebrospinal fluid) could help doctors predict and monitor dangerous complications after a specific type of brain bleed. Researchers observed 366 adult patients who had this type of bleed for 14 days, collecting fluid samples and tracking their health. The goal was to validate this measurement as a useful tool for doctors to spot problems like delayed brain injury sooner.
