Which surgery works best for cancer that spread to the thigh bone?

NCT ID NCT06918860

First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

Summary

This study looks back at 600 patients who had surgery for a broken or about-to-break upper thigh bone caused by cancer that spread from elsewhere. The goal is to compare two types of surgery—a metal rod inside the bone or a replacement joint—to see which one lasts longer, has fewer problems, and helps patients function better. No new treatments are tested; instead, researchers will review medical records to find the best surgical option.
