Could a simple pill replace the needle for kids with bone infections?
NCT ID NCT04538053
First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to treat bone and joint infections in children aged 1 to 18. One group gets antibiotics only by mouth from the start, while the other gets standard care: a few days of IV antibiotics followed by pills. The goal is to see if the all-oral approach works just as well for full recovery after 3 months. About 285 children from 8 hospitals in Australia and New Zealand will take part.
