Could a blood transfusion during cardiac arrest save more lives?
NCT ID NCT06462027
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether giving a blood transfusion to adults whose heart has stopped beating for at least 10 minutes can improve oxygen delivery to the brain and other organs during CPR. About 30 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either packed red blood cells or a placebo. The goal is to see if this approach is feasible and safe, and to gather early data on its effects on survival and brain function.
