Blood test may predict prostate cancer drug success

NCT ID NCT01961843

First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a blood test can predict how prostate cancer responds to the drug abiraterone. Researchers collected blood samples from 40 men with advanced prostate cancer before and during treatment. They measured proteins in rare tumor cells found in the blood to see if these proteins could forecast treatment success. The goal was to develop a way to guide treatment without needing a biopsy.
