Blood banks ran dry during COVID-19 — this study investigates why
NCT ID NCT07490314
Summary
This study looked back at how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the hospital's blood supply. Researchers analyzed data from 100 adult surgical patients to understand why blood products were sometimes delayed for emergency cases. The goal is to use this information to create better policies for managing blood shortages during future health crises and to guide the safe use of blood from donors who had COVID-19.
