Tiny particles in the blood may warn of dangerous pregnancy high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT07728656
First seen Jul 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 28, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether tiny particles shed from blood vessels, called endothelial extracellular vesicles, can serve as early warning signs for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. Researchers will compare levels of these particles in pregnant women with and without high blood pressure and examine how they relate to blood vessel function. The goal is to find a non-invasive way to detect and monitor these conditions earlier, potentially improving outcomes for mothers and babies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test to detect and monitor hypertensive disorders in pregnancy earlier and more accurately.
- What could go wrong
- This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find a clear link, and any future test would require much larger studies to confirm.
