NCT ID NCT06441422

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether low-load arm exercises with blood flow restriction cuffs can help people with disabilities build muscle strength and size. Participants will do light resistance training either with or without the cuffs. The goal is to see if this approach offers a safe, effective workout option for those who cannot do intense exercise.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

blood flow restriction training

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a gentler way for people with disabilities to build muscle and prevent health problems without heavy exercise.

What could go wrong

This is a small early study with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The training involves partially blocking blood flow, which carries risks like blood clots or injury.
