Safer pain relief for kids? study tests two block techniques

NCT ID NCT07256535

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at two pain-block methods—quadratus lumborum block (QLB) and transversus abdominis plane block (TAP)—in 20 children aged 1-6 having hernia surgery. The goal is to measure how much of the numbing drug bupivacaine gets into the blood after each method, since lower levels mean a lower risk of side effects. Researchers will also compare pain scores to see which block works better. The findings could help choose the safer and more effective technique for kids.
