New combo aims to keep leukemia away in older patients

Summary
This study tests whether adding an immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab) to standard treatment (azacitidine and venetoclax) can help older adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) achieve deeper remission and lower the chance of the cancer coming back. About 60 participants who are not eligible for or refuse intensive chemotherapy will be randomly assigned to receive either the standard two-drug combo or the three-drug combo. The main goal is to see if the three-drug combo leads to more patients having no detectable cancer cells after treatment.
