Braces and tooth removal: new study measures chewing impact
NCT ID NCT07253337
First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looks at how taking out first premolars during orthodontic treatment changes the way bite force is spread when moving the jaw side to side. Sixteen people aged 14 to 25 who need these teeth removed for braces will have their bite measured before and after treatment using a special digital system. The goal is to understand how extraction patterns affect chewing function.
