New pill shows promise for bipolar II depression in small trial

Summary
This pilot study tested an experimental oral medication, NMRA-335140, against a placebo in 18 adults with bipolar II disorder who were currently experiencing a major depressive episode. The goal was to see if the drug could reduce depression symptoms over 6 weeks. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo, and neither they nor the researchers knew who got which. The study is now complete, and results will help determine if larger trials are warranted.
