New gum disease protocol shows promise in large study

Summary
This study is testing a new treatment plan called Bioperio® for people with gum disease (periodontitis). The plan includes deep cleaning, brushing instructions, and for severe cases, a special gel to help gums heal. Researchers will check if gum pockets shrink and stay healthy. About 5000 adults with untreated gum disease will take part.
