First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of tooth crown called BioFlex, made from a flexible material, against standard stainless steel crowns for cavities in children's back baby teeth. 74 children received one of each crown type using a gentle technique that doesn't require drilling or numbing. Researchers checked the crowns right after placement, then at 2 weeks, 1, 3, 6, and 12 months to see how well they held up and if any tooth problems developed.
