Scientists hunt for hidden resistance genes in superbug samples
NCT ID NCT07541690
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study will collect urine, pus, and sputum samples from 100 hospital patients with multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections. Researchers will test the bacteria for their ability to form biofilms (protective slime layers) and pump out antibiotics. They will also look for specific genes linked to these traits. The goal is to better understand how these superbugs become so hard to treat, but no new treatment is being tested.
