Summary
This study aimed to see if a medication called ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) could help control inflammation and improve quality of life for people with a specific complication called pouchitis. Pouchitis is inflammation that can occur in a surgically created pouch after the colon is removed for ulcerative colitis. The trial was designed for patients whose pouchitis did not respond well to or depended on antibiotics, but it was terminated early after enrolling only two participants.
