Can a cancer drug stop chronic nosebleeds? new trial for HHT patients

NCT ID NCT04404881

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether bevacizumab, a drug that blocks a protein involved in abnormal blood vessel growth, can reduce chronic bleeding and iron-deficiency anemia in people with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). HHT causes fragile blood vessels that bleed easily, often leading to frequent nosebleeds and anemia. The trial enrolled 33 adults with HHT to see if the drug improves their blood counts and reduces the need for transfusions or iron infusions.
