New blood test tracks diabetes risk in cystic fibrosis patients

NCT ID NCT03713437

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at a new blood test to measure beta cell death in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). Beta cells make insulin, and their death can lead to diabetes. Researchers compared levels of a specific DNA marker in 40 participants with CF and healthy controls to see if it could help predict diabetes development.
