10,000 smartwatch users to track AF burden and stroke risk in landmark study

NCT ID NCT07497906

First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study will follow 10,000 people with atrial fibrillation (AF) for two years to see if the total time they spend in AF (called AF burden) is linked to strokes and blood clots. Participants will use their own smartphones and smartwatches to track their heart rhythm. The goal is to find a tipping point where AF burden becomes dangerous and to learn who benefits most from blood thinners.
