Spinal fluid clues may predict baby blues
NCT ID NCT06947278
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study looked at 200 women having C-sections to see if levels of a brain protein called BDNF in their spinal fluid and blood could predict postpartum depression. Researchers measured BDNF before and after surgery and checked for depression symptoms up to 42 days later. The goal was to find a way to identify women at risk early, but this was an observational study, not a treatment.
