New balloon treatment aims to keep heart arteries open

NCT ID NCT05471245

Summary

This study tested a special balloon coated with a drug (sirolimus) that is inflated inside clogged heart arteries. The goal was to see if this balloon could help keep the arteries open and reduce the need for repeat procedures. Researchers followed 110 adults with long blockages in their coronary arteries for 9 months to measure how well the artery stayed open and to check for safety issues like heart attacks.
