First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested a technique where a balloon is used to widen the bile duct opening and clear stones during emergency gallbladder removal surgery. 100 adults with bile duct stones participated. After surgery, an MRI confirmed the stones were gone, and patients were monitored for 30 days. The goal was to see if this balloon method works as well as the more common ERCP procedure.
