First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving the antibiotic azithromycin through a vein can safely clear the stomach for emergency endoscopy in people with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The goal was to improve how well doctors can see the bleeding site and possibly reduce the need for a repeat procedure. The trial involved 224 participants and measured cleaning quality, hospital stay length, and side effects.
