Awake ear surgery: could a simple nerve block replace full anesthesia?
NCT ID NCT07275450
First seen Dec 10, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study compares using a targeted nerve block (regional anesthesia) versus general anesthesia for tympanoplasty, a surgery to repair the eardrum. About 128 adults aged 21-65 will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The main goal is to see if the nerve block allows patients to go home sooner after surgery, while also measuring pain levels and blood pressure during the procedure.
