New drug combo targets tough thyroid cancers

Summary
This study tests whether two drugs, avutometinib and defactinib, can shrink or control thyroid cancers that have a specific genetic change (RAF dimer-driven) and no longer respond to radioactive iodine. About 30 adults with either differentiated or anaplastic thyroid cancer will take these pills to see if the combination is safe and effective. The goal is to find a new treatment option for people with limited choices.
