Shock to the ear: new combo therapy aims to get Parkinson's patients moving

NCT ID NCT07337226

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests if a gentle nerve stimulation (taVNS) applied to the ear, combined with treadmill training, can improve walking in people recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Sixty participants will receive either active or sham stimulation during 12 therapy sessions over 4 weeks. Researchers will measure walking speed, brain activity, and inflammation markers to see if the combination works better than therapy alone.
