Smart socket automates fit for amputees, no more manual adjustments

NCT ID NCT05124652

First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests a new prosthetic socket that automatically adjusts its fit for people with below-knee amputations. Many amputees experience daily changes in their limb size, causing discomfort and skin problems. The smart socket aims to solve this by sensing and adapting without the user needing to make manual adjustments. The trial involves 100 participants and measures comfort and fit accuracy.
