First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether placing small magnetic beads on specific points of the ear (auricular acupressure) could reduce pain from episiotomy stitches after childbirth. 86 new mothers were randomly assigned to receive either real magnetic beads or fake beads on their ears for 48 hours. Researchers measured pain levels and how much pain interfered with daily activities at several time points, and also checked satisfaction with pain care at 48 hours.
