Scientists track rare nerve and heart disease in unexpected location
NCT ID NCT07124377
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at 57 people aged 20 to 70 who carry a specific genetic change (Val50Met) linked to hereditary ATTR amyloidosis, a rare disease that can damage nerves and the heart. Researchers want to describe the different ways the disease shows up—mainly heart problems, mainly nerve problems, or a mix of both—in a region where it is not usually found. Participants will not receive any treatment; the goal is simply to observe and record symptoms to better understand the condition.
