Cholesterol drug tested in fight against skin condition

NCT ID NCT02432534

Summary

This study tested if adding a high-dose cholesterol medication (atorvastatin) to standard UVB light therapy could better control active vitiligo. It involved 28 adults with active, spreading vitiligo patches. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either UVB therapy alone or UVB combined with daily atorvastatin pills for six months to see which was more effective at reducing the spread and appearance of white skin patches.
