Scientists probe hidden proteins in asthma airways for clues

NCT ID NCT06427018

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study examines lung tissue from 120 adults (ages 18-70) with and without asthma to measure levels of two proteins, ezrin and Pip5k1α, in airway smooth muscle. The goal is to understand how these proteins change in asthma, which could lead to new treatment approaches. Participants are not given any treatment; only existing tissue samples are analyzed.
