Asthma ER breakthrough? one shot might replace 5 days of pills

NCT ID NCT07228052

First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests if a single steroid injection works as well as a 5-day course of steroid pills for adults with asthma who are being discharged from the emergency room. About 182 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the shot or the pills, and researchers will track their asthma control and any return visits to the hospital over the next month. The goal is to find a simpler, equally effective treatment option.
