Could a common pill shield diabetic moms from dangerous pregnancy risks?
NCT ID NCT03574909
Summary
This study tested whether taking a low dose of aspirin early in pregnancy could prevent serious complications for mothers with pre-existing diabetes. 137 women with type 1 or type 2 diabetes were randomly assigned to take either aspirin or a placebo pill daily, starting in their first trimester. Researchers wanted to see if aspirin could reduce problems like preeclampsia, very early birth, low baby birth weight, or infant death, which are more common in diabetic pregnancies.
