Summary
This early-phase study tested a special artificial larynx with valves in 10 adults who had severe swallowing troubles, often after throat cancer. The goal was to see if the device could help them swallow safely and possibly allow them to close their tracheotomy tube. The study focused on breathing function and used a camera to check the throat, but it was very small and early-stage, so results are limited.
