Silicone disc implant aims to fix broken backs

NCT ID NCT05732818

Summary

This is the first human study testing a new silicone implant designed to replace damaged cushioning in the spine after surgery for a herniated disc. The trial will enroll 50 adults with severe back and leg pain from a specific type of disc injury to see if the implant is safe and helps reduce pain and disability. The goal is to see if this implant can better support the spine and prevent future problems compared to standard surgery alone.
