Doctors disagree: study reveals gap between X-Ray and CT scan diagnoses for serious lung condition

NCT ID NCT07400445

Summary

This study looked at how well chest X-rays and CT scans agree when doctors use them to diagnose Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a serious lung condition. Researchers reviewed medical records of 277 critically ill patients on breathing machines who had both types of scans. They wanted to see if chest X-rays, which are quicker and more common, are as reliable as CT scans, which are considered the gold standard for this diagnosis.
