New combo therapy shows promise for restoring lost skin pigment
NCT ID NCT03036995
First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested whether adding the drug apremilast to standard UVB light therapy helps restore skin color in people with vitiligo, a condition that causes white patches. Eighty adults with moderate to severe vitiligo received UVB light twice a week for 24 weeks, plus either apremilast or a placebo. The goal was to see if the combination leads to more repigmentation. While the treatment aims to control the disease and improve appearance, it is not a cure, and ongoing management may be needed.
