NCT ID NCT05075252
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at adults having appendix removal surgery to see if washing the belly with fluid (lavage) helps prevent infections after surgery. Researchers will track over 1,000 patients to compare infection rates based on how dirty the belly is during surgery. The goal is to give surgeons clear guidance on when washing is helpful and when it is not needed.
