Phone app could transform blood transfusion care for bone marrow patients

Summary
This study follows 60 people with lower-risk myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDS) for 6 months to see how different blood transfusion strategies affect their quality of life and health costs. Participants use a smartphone app (or paper forms) to answer weekly questions about how they feel and take photos of their fingernails or eyelids to help estimate hemoglobin levels. The goal is to gather data that could lead to better, more personalized transfusion decisions in the future.
