Can a simple antibiotic stop diarrhea and boost growth in kids?
NCT ID NCT07433426
Summary
This study is testing whether giving the antibiotic azithromycin to young children with a specific type of infectious diarrhea (Shigella) helps them get better faster and improves their growth. About 700 children in Bangladesh and Zambia will receive either the real antibiotic or a placebo (inactive pill) and be followed for three months. Researchers will measure how long the diarrhea lasts and track the children's weight and height to see if the treatment makes a difference.
