Shorter antibiotic course may cut infections after pancreatic surgery

NCT ID NCT06123169

First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of giving antibiotics after pancreatic surgery in patients who had a biliary stent placed before surgery. The goal is to see if a 5-day course of broad-spectrum antibiotics is better than a single preventive dose at reducing surgical site infections. About 326 adults will take part, and the results could help improve recovery after this complex operation.
