This laboratory study tested whether levobupivacaine, a painkiller used in patient-controlled analgesia pumps, can kill Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Researchers grew the bacteria in the lab and exposed them to the drug at two different strengths. They measured how many bacteria survived and looked for changes under a microscope.
