New pill could help kidney patients fight anemia without needles

Summary

This study tested an experimental drug called MT-6548 in 42 people in Japan who have anemia due to chronic kidney disease and are on peritoneal dialysis. The goal was to see if the drug can safely raise and maintain healthy red blood cell levels. Participants either switched from another anemia treatment or started the drug fresh.
