Are dry needling pokes hitting the mark? new study uses ultrasound to find out

NCT ID NCT07074249

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looks at whether blind dry needling (inserting thin needles into muscle without imaging guidance) accurately reaches the intended deep muscles in the lower back. Researchers will use ultrasound after the procedure to check needle placement in 20 adults with low back pain. The goal is to understand how often the needle hits the right spot, not to provide treatment.
