First seen Dec 17, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at 217 Hispanic people living with HIV in California, Mexico, and Puerto Rico to see if the types of bacteria in the anus are linked to HPV infection or anal precancer. Researchers compared the anal microbiome between those with and without high-risk HPV or precancerous lesions. The goal was to understand why anal cancer rates differ among these populations.
