Could your own blood heal anal fistulas? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT05641844

First seen Nov 16, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests a new treatment called RD2 Ver.02 for anal fistulas, which are abnormal tunnels that form between the anal canal and the skin. The treatment uses a patient's own blood, which is turned into a clot and placed into the fistula to help it heal. The study will compare this approach to a standard saline treatment in 110 adults to see if it improves healing and reduces the chance of the fistula coming back.
