New blood test may personalize leukemia treatment, avoiding harsh chemo

NCT ID NCT07060001

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests a new blood test (5hmC) to see how well acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is responding to treatment. About 112 adults with newly diagnosed AML will get either a milder drug (hypomethylating agent) or standard strong chemo. The test helps doctors decide if more treatment is needed. The goal is to improve remission and survival while reducing unnecessary side effects.
