New dissolving pill for Alzheimer's may ease caregiver burden

NCT ID NCT07417670

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tested whether a melt-in-mouth version of the Alzheimer's drug memantine is more satisfying for caregivers than the standard tablet. About 105 patients with moderate to severe Alzheimer's took one form for two months, and their primary caregivers filled out a satisfaction questionnaire. The goal was to see if the easier-to-take form improves the care experience, not to cure the disease.
